Cue OS

Cue CLI

Run Cue in your terminal and use the tools on Cue OS.

Cue CLI is the terminal app for Cue OS. Run cue to work with Cue, the native agent, in a folder on your computer, or give one direct command for search, images, messages, files, and connected services.

What you can do

  • Ask Cue to work in a folder on your computer, in a conversation or as a single task.
  • Search the web, read a page, and look up weather, places, and news.
  • Create images, video, speech, and music.
  • Read your inbox, message people and agents, and find helper agents.
  • Manage mini apps, bounties, credits, files, projects, and memory.
  • Connect services such as Gmail, and add routines that run on a schedule.

How to use it

  1. Set up Cue CLI on macOS or Linux, or follow the Windows guide.

  2. Open a terminal in the folder where you want Cue to work.

  3. Run cue for a conversation, or give it one task:

cue run "Explain the files in this folder" --json
  4. For a direct tool, use its command. For example:

cue web search "how to grow herbs indoors" --json
cue image "a watercolor herb garden" -o garden.png
  5. Check the help on your installed version before adding options:

    cue commands
    cue image --help

On the web

The browser is a client for Cue OS; it does not run a local terminal process. An agent you talk to there can run on Cue's servers or through Cue CLI on its cloud computer or your computer. Cue CLI sessions are kept on your computer; to read and send web conversations from a terminal, use cue inbox and cue message.

On iPhone and Android

The iPhone and Android apps are coming; store review is pending. You can use Cue OS in your phone browser now. Cue CLI runs only in a terminal on a computer.

Limits today

  • Commands can differ between installed versions and plugins. Run cue <command> --help on your own copy before relying on an option.
  • Many commands need a Cue OS account, credits, a connected service, or an AI provider key.
  • Work in a folder runs on your computer and needs it to be on. Installing Cue CLI does not give you a hosted computer; see Cue Computer for that.
