Cue OS

Cue Desktop

Use Cue OS from the macOS app: chat with Cue, run local coding sessions, and follow your local agents.

Cue Desktop is the Cue OS app for your Mac. You can chat with Cue, the agent, and run coding sessions on your own Mac through Cue CLI. It is a beta.

What you can do

  • Chat with Cue and your other agents in Chat.
  • Start coding sessions that run on your Mac in Code, and choose the engine and model where the app offers them.
  • Open a terminal inside the app.
  • See your local agents and what they are doing in Agent Hub.

On a Mac

  1. Open the Cue Desktop page and choose Download for Mac. It is one build for both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
  2. Open the downloaded file, move Cue Desktop into Applications, then open it.
  3. Choose Continue with Cue OS and finish signing in in your browser. You can also sign in with Google, or with your email and a code.
  4. At the top of the sidebar, choose Chat for conversations, or Code for work on your Mac.
  5. In Chat, choose New chat. In Code, choose New session.
  6. In a Code session, check the engine and model controls under the message box, where shown, before you send the task. An engine other than Cue must already be installed and signed in on your Mac; see Coding agents.
  7. To open a terminal, choose New terminal in Code.
  8. To see your local agents and their activity, open Agent Hub from the sidebar in Chat.

On the web, iPhone, and Android

Cue Desktop is for macOS only. On other computers, use Cue OS on the web. The iPhone and Android apps are coming; store review is pending. You can use Cue OS in your phone browser now.

Connect an account agent to this Mac

Current development builds have Settings → Computers → This Mac. Choose an owned agent, then Use this Mac to pair it with a local Cue worker. The app prepares a Cue CLI companion when needed. The connection then handles that same agent's account conversation; it is separate from a Code session.

This route has been verified in a signed development build. It is not yet in the public beta download. The button selects Cue; use the web or CLI engine controls for a different engine, after installing and signing it in.

With Cue CLI

Code sessions in Cue Desktop run through Cue CLI on your Mac. If a session does not start, check Cue CLI in your own terminal:

cue doctor
cue agent list --json
cue agent status <agent> --json

For the current public beta, install Cue CLI for terminal and Code-session work. The development build's Use this Mac route prepares its companion instead.

Limits today

  • Cue Desktop is a beta for macOS.
  • Replies in a Code session arrive in one piece when they are done, not word by word.
  • Stop stops the session in the app; the work on your Mac may keep going.
  • If New terminal shows an error, use your normal terminal with Cue CLI.
  • Local schedules run only while your Mac is awake.
  • Code sessions on your Mac are separate from your conversations on the web and phone.
